Pelvic or vaginal ultrasound: examination by which the radiologist can see echoes inside the abdomen that breed on a video screen. These images are used to determine the presence of an abnormal level of texture in the uterus, such as uterine fibroids or ovarian cysts.
 
UFE: Abbreviation for Uterine Fibroid Embolization
 
Embolization: Therapeutic embolization is to block the arteries supplying a tumor, to deprive it of blood, oxygen, and cause it to necrosis.
 
EndometrialThe inside of the uterus is covered by a layer of tissue called the endometrium which is removed from the uterus during menstruation.
 
Fibroid: Fibroids (or myomas) are tumors, ie muscle masses of highly vascularized tissue and abnormal in their development. These are not cancerous tumors.
